Anything Can Be A Dog...

6.9 MB | Quicktime MP4 - Click here to download a free player

Izzy, Michele and I went to Zoo Atlanta on Sunday -- it's a pretty crappy zoo but we thought Izzy would get a kick out of seeing the animals. The video is of Izzy at the Children's Zoo petting (and getting knocked around by) the sheep and goats. Izzy thinks the sheep is a dog. You'll also hear Michele repeatedly call the same sheep a goat... Don't worry though, a young child does correct her.

Michele got the rest of the animal names right, but lions, pandas and kangaroos were still "dog" to Izzy. She had a good time, but truthfully she probably would have been just as happy going to PetSmart on one of the pet adoption weekends. And she would have looked like a genius pointing and saying "dog" over and over again.

On a completely different note, I just realized this morning that the sign up box for the email list wasn't working. Sorry about that... It's fixed now. If you sign up, you'll get an automatic email every time I post.

More updates to come... In the meantime, please feel free to vicariously enjoy our afternoon at the petting zoo.

Izzy: A Day In The Life

5.5 MB | Quicktime MP4 - Click here to download a free player

I finally got this video posted -- sorry it's taken so long! Just a quick montage of Izzy being Izzy (which is to say adorable). It's really amazing what a little character she's become over the last few months.

If you're having trouble playing the movie, I just posted some tips. Scroll down to take a peek or just click here.

And besides that, all is well... I'm finally getting a chance to chill out a little bit and my fantasy baseball team (the Suburban Wolves) is holding firmly in first place. The rest of Yahoo! Public League 333711 can suck it.

Problems Playing the Movies?

Okay, it looks like a few people have had an issue playing the Izzy movies I've posted on this site. So, in lieu of a more official troubleshooting guide and FAQ (which I sincerely hope will never be necessary), here's what to do if you're having problems...
  1. Download Quicktime if you don't have a recent version already installed.
  2. Click on the photo at the top of this posting or click on the link under (suburban)downloads in the column on the left
  3. Get a new window with nothing in it? Looks like nothing is happening? Give it a few minutes... These are big files and may take some time to download. It will probably start playing on its own in 2-3 minutes if not right away.
  4. If that doesn't work, just right-click (or "control"-click for Mac users) on any of the links and download it to your hard drive. They will play fine on your local Quicktime player.
  5. Have iTunes? Click here and get the podcast. It will download automatically to your iTunes whenever I post a new video and will play just fine in your iTunes, on your iPod or on any Quicktime player. I promise. Pinky swear even.
  6. Still stumped? Well, me too. And haven't I done enough? Between your collective, work, social and family lives, don't you know another dork? Ask him, please!
Seriously though-- they do work, I promise. They work on my computer, the wife's computer, and several others that I'm aware of so don't lose hope...

And I'm about to post a brand spankin' new Izzy video in just a few minutes so there will be a perfect opportunity to try your mad new movie downloadin' skillz.

Vacation at Home

So I'm taking today and tomorrow off and then a couple more days next week, trying to relax, get some "me" time and maybe even get a few things done around here. On the agenda today is a little shopping, making ribs and a fresh batch of my homemade BBQ sauce, possibly mow the back yard, and work on finishing the video for Izzy's next podcast. Wow that's ambitious... Some of that may just have to wait until tomorrow.

I really wanted to have the video up last week, but I was sick and miserable with the sore throat frome hell so you'll have to excuse me...

Izzy is home sick with me today-- she woke up with a fever and a crusty nose. She's napping now so I'm hoping that her fever will break and she'll start feeling better. If she's up to it later, we'll play outside.

My niece Kiersten turned 1 this weekend... She walks and is off the charts in height but she's as bald as the day she was born. Hell, maybe even balder if that's possible. So, here's Kiersten with all the 'dos that might have been and in the meantime we'll all just hope that her look isn't a political statement.

Tomorrow I'll post the new Izzy movie!

Lazy Weekend

It's been a pretty lazy weekend so far -- spent most of yesterday on my ass watching the Discovery Channel. Mythbusters has become my favorite show. It satisfies some primal urge to see cars, trucks and airplanes destroyed and crash dummies dismembered. I don't know why but I love it and laugh like a mental patient the whole time...

The biggest news of the weekend is that Michele has scored a fancy new job. She will start sometime this week as Senior Staff Accountant for Delta Apparel. It's a public company which means that she'll be getting to do a lot more advanced work. It will be great experience for her and she's super-excited to get started.

The second-biggest news is that we now own a #*&%! lawnmower. Since it rained like hell on Friday night and Saturday morning, there will be no mowing this weekend. As much as I'd like to hope that I could get off like that every week, I'm sure the homeowner's association wouldn't stand for it.

Last thing... People have asked to see photos of the new house, so here's a shot of our new swanky digs... Click here to see a few more shots posted to Snapfish.
